Explore our range of reinforcement solutions, each designed for specific performance characteristics and applications:
Fiberglass Reinforcement Materials
Chopped Strand Mat (CSM)
- Description: A non-woven reinforcement made of randomly oriented chopped fiberglass strands held together by an emulsion or powder binder.
- Key Benefits: Excellent conformability to complex molds, good wet-out properties, isotropic mechanical properties, cost-effective for general-purpose laminates.
- Ideal For: Marine (boat hulls, decks), Pools & Spas (shells), Pipes & Tanks (linings), Automotive (non-structural parts), General FRP applications.
Continuous Strand Mat (CSM)
- Description: A non-woven mat made from continuous fiberglass strands swirled or laid down in a random pattern, bound by a soluble binder. Differs from chopped strand mat by using continuous fibers for enhanced integrity.
- Key Benefits: High bulk, good drapability, fast wet-out, excellent for compression molding and RTM processes, provides good surface finish.
- Ideal For: Automotive (interior panels, trunk liners), Marine (larger molded parts, secondary bonding), Pipes & Tanks (structural layers), General industrial composites.
Woven Roving
- Description: A fabric woven from continuous fiberglass rovings in a bidirectional pattern. Available in various weave styles (plain, twill, satin).
- Key Benefits: High strength and stiffness in both warp and weft directions, excellent dimensional stability, good mechanical properties.
- Ideal For: Marine (structural laminates, bulkheads), Automotive (heavy-duty components), Construction (panels, structural elements), Pipes & Tanks (high-pressure applications).
Filament Winding Roving
- Description: Continuous fiberglass rovings specifically engineered for the filament winding process, designed for consistent tension and wet-out.
- Key Benefits: Optimized for high-strength, cylindrical, and complex shapes; superior resin impregnation; excellent hoop and axial strength.
- Ideal For: Pipes & Tanks (high-pressure vessels, chemical storage), Aerospace (rocket motor casings, pressure vessels), Wind & Energy (composite shafts, spars).
Gun Roving (Spray-Up Roving)
- Description: Continuous fiberglass rovings designed to be chopped and sprayed with resin simultaneously using a spray-up gun.
- Key Benefits: High production rates, good conformability to complex molds, cost-effective for large-volume parts.
- Ideal For: Marine (large boat components), Pools & Spas (shell manufacturing), Pipes & Tanks (large diameter pipes, storage tanks), Automotive (truck parts, specialized vehicle bodies).
Chopped Strands
- Description: Short-length fiberglass strands (typically 3mm to 25mm) used as reinforcement in thermoplastic and thermoset composites, and for concrete reinforcement.
- Key Benefits: Improves impact strength, dimensional stability, reduces cracking, enhances flexural modulus.
- Ideal For: Automotive (injection molded parts, dashboards), Construction (fiber-reinforced concrete, stucco, asphalt), Polymers (thermoplastic compounding), Aerospace (non-structural components).
Roving
- Description: A bundle of continuous parallel fiberglass filaments, typically wound into a large package. A fundamental building block for many other reinforcement forms.
- Key Benefits: Basis for woven fabrics, chopped strands, and filament winding; high tensile strength, good handling properties.
- Ideal For: Diverse applications as the raw material for other fiberglass products, offering foundational strength.
Non-Crimp Fabrics (NCF / Multi-Axial Fabrics)
- Description: Advanced stitched fabrics composed of multiple layers of unidirectional fibers aligned in specific angles without crimp, maximizing fiber straightness.
- Key Benefits: Superior mechanical properties (strength, stiffness) due to straight fiber alignment, reduced resin consumption (lighter laminates), and highly customizable fiber orientation for specific load paths.
- Includes:
- Double Bias Mat (DBM): Combines two layers of unidirectional rovings (typically at +45° and -45°), sometimes with a chopped strand mat layer. Offers excellent bi-directional strength and improved laminate consistency.
- Triaxles (Triaxial Fabrics): Features three layers of unidirectional fibers typically aligned at 0°, +45°, and -45°. Provides balanced strength and stiffness across three axes, ideal for complex stress distributions.
- QUADs (Quadaxial Fabrics): Features four layers of unidirectional fibers typically aligned at 0°, +45°, 90°, and -45°. Provides exceptional multi-directional strength and stiffness for highly loaded structures.
- Ideal For: Wind & Energy (turbine blades, spars), Aerospace (structural components, fairings), Marine (high-performance hulls, spars, masts), Automotive (high-performance structural parts).
Combined Reinforcement Materials
Combomats
- Description: A versatile hybrid reinforcement combining different types of materials, most commonly stitched layers of unidirectional rovings (e.g., bi-axial or tri-axial) with an integrated chopped strand mat (CSM) or continuous strand mat.
- Key Benefits: Offers the tailored strength of stitched fabrics combined with the conformability and gap-filling properties of mat; reduces lay-up time; custom combinations available for specific project needs.
- Ideal For: Marine (complex hull sections, deck structures), Wind & Energy (nacelle components, reinforcing areas), Pools & Spas (integrated structural layers), general composite manufacturing requiring optimized mechanical properties and processing efficiency.
Specialty Reinforcement Materials
Carbon Fiber
- Description: A high-strength, lightweight material consisting of extremely thin fibers about 5-10 micrometers in diameter, composed mostly of carbon atoms. Available in various forms including woven fabrics, unidirectional tapes, and chopped fibers.
- Key Benefits: Exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, high stiffness, excellent fatigue resistance, low thermal expansion, good corrosion resistance. Ideal for applications demanding ultimate performance and weight savings.
- Ideal For: Aerospace (primary structures, aircraft interiors), Wind & Energy (high-performance turbine blades), Automotive (racing components, luxury vehicle parts), Marine (performance yacht components), Sports & Recreation.
Milled Fiberglass
- Description: Finely ground fiberglass, typically ranging from 1/32″ to 1/8″ in length, often used as a filler or thickener in resins.
